Meet Our Tennis Pro: Dena Coe
Director of Tennis at The Buccaneer
The Buccaneer Resort is proud to welcome Dena Coe as our tennis professional, bringing decades of experience, energy, and passion for the sport to our courts.
Dena has been immersed in tennis her entire life; as a player, coach, and dedicated tennis mom. Raised in Mason, Texas, she won three Texas state championships as a junior and earned a full scholarship to Odessa College, where she became an All-American and helped lead her team to two NJCAA National Runner-Up finishes. She later transferred to the University of North Texas, earning All-Conference honors and helping secure the program’s first Southland Conference women’s tennis title.
After earning a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a math endorsement, Dena taught middle school while coaching school tennis before returning to full-time coaching in 2015. Her coaching career includes leadership roles at The Lakes Tennis Academy in Frisco, Texas, where she served as Junior Academy Class Director and Summer Camp Director, overseeing programs for more than 600 students and managing ROGY programs and summer camps.
Known for her high energy, technical expertise, and positive approach, Dena creates a motivating environment that fosters growth, confidence, and a lifelong love of tennis. She now coaches juniors and adults at The Buccaneer Resort through private lessons, group classes, and competitive teams, with a focus on strong fundamentals, point play, and confident performance.
Off the court, Dena has been married to Truman Coe for 29 years and is a proud mother of three sons serving in the U.S. military and a daughter playing collegiate tennis at the University of Nebraska.
We are privileged to have Dena as a part of our Buccaneer family and look forward to seeing players of all levels thrive under her guidance.
