St. Croix’s Buccaneer Tennis Club Earns the 2026 USTA Outstanding Facility Award

The Buccaneer Resort is proud to be honored with the 2026 USTA Outstanding Facility Award, placing its tennis program among the nation’s top recognized facilities and bringing national recognition to tennis in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Presented by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the annual award recognizes outstanding tennis facilities based on factors including court quality, design, player amenities, aesthetics, accessibility, and contributions to growing the sport.

The Buccaneer was awarded in the Small Private Facilities category, recognizing its commitment to providing an exceptional tennis environment for guests and the St. Croix community. The award was presented Monday, August 31, at an awards reception held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York as part of the 2026 US Open.

World-Class Tennis in St. Croix

Set among lush tropical landscapes and ocean breezes, The Buccaneer’s tennis facility features eight courts, including two lit for evening play. With six Plexipave courts and two Tedelgrass courts, it offers a variety of playing surfaces for tennis players of all levels in a beautiful Caribbean setting.

The USTA emphasized that facilities such as The Buccaneer play an important role in making tennis welcoming and helping the sport thrive at the community level. The award recognizes not just the physical facility, but the overall experience and commitment behind it.

The Buccaneer’s tennis program brings together resort guests, members and local players for year-round play. Players can enjoy court time, professional instruction, private lessons, clinics, doubles play and social tennis opportunities.

At the heart of the program is Director of Tennis Dena Coe, an RSPA Elite Certified Teaching Professional, USTA Net Generation coach and USTA Professional Coach. Her experience as a competitive player and educator brings a dynamic, positive approach to the program.
