This Independence Day is especially meaningful as the nation begins commemorating America250, the 250th anniversary of the United States. If you’re dreaming of an unforgettable celebration in America’s paradise, the U.S. Virgin Islands offer a fourth of July experience unlike any other.

On July 3, the island observes Emancipation Day, honoring the end of slavery in the former Danish West Indies. This powerful tribute to freedom and resilience is highlighted at the historic Fort Frederik Museum with an Emancipation Day celebration.

As the weekend unfolds, July 4th brings a festive atmosphere across the island with a vibrant beachside celebration. Throughout the day, music, local flavors, and island energy set a relaxed yet celebratory tone, leading into a spectacular fireworks display in Frederiksted illuminates the Caribbean sky.

Enjoy the holiday experience at The Buccaneer with live music, entertainment and island dining. Highlights include fire dancers at Beauregard’s on Friday evening, crab races at Mermaid Beach on the 4th of July, and Jazz on The Terrace in the evening, along with performances from local favorite Gyasi Clarke on Sunday. Between events, relax by the pool or beach and take in the easy rhythm and spirit of the island.
